The Girls Are Drowning

Calling Ophelia! Have you guys noticed how many amazing covers are popping up lately with girls either submerged or drowning in water?

First up is The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin.

Next, we have Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma.

And I just spotted the cover for On The Fringe by Courtney King Walker.

I'm kind of surprised by this new trend. But I think these covers are all absolutely gorgeous and intriguing.

What do you think about the underwater trend? Yay? Nay? What other trends are you noticing in covers?

  1. I'm really interested to see WHY the design team decided to cover these books with drowning girls. Whether it's actually symbolic/significant to the story or feel of the book, or if it's just for the pretty look.

I haven't read and of them, considering they haven't been released yet and I don't like in the US, but I'm really excited to read these!

  2. I have noticed and they're all lovely. I'm curious about the stories behind the covers.
